Interview with a graduate of Vatel Madrid Pranay Chhabria

The Renvyle House Hotel restaurant supervisor and Vatel Madrid graduate shares his experience as a hotel professional in Ireland.

Return

I am currently working on RENVYLE HOUSE HOTEL & RESORT, It is a 4-star hotel in Galway, Ireland.

My job category is the hotel Restaurant Supervisor and my main function is to collaborate with the General Manager regarding the organization and logistics of the restaurant, in addition, I have had the opportunity to participate in the HR department in managing the interviews in order to hire staff for different work positions.

My work is quite heterogeneous, for example, I supervise the arrival of employees, design the staff's weekly schedule, propose functional and logistical improvements, carry out the corresponding inventories, estimate costs, organize the buffet and check the rest, regarding the kitchen, we plan menus with the team and finally, perhaps the most important thing for me, is customer service, I pay close attention to complaints and suggestions made by customers, as this will allow me to make improvements that seek the excellence.

It may be that said like that, my work seems very simple, but it is not, we must not forget that the fundamental basis is the human capital that we have, and therefore, I try to be as fair as possible, but sometimes I have to make decisions that are not they like, it is part of the supervisor position.

From the first moment, in Vatel, I felt comfortable, my teachers are great professionals, demanding and very committed to their educational role, always looking out for us. I can't complain, the truth is, today I have good relationships with most of my teachers, they helped me to forge my path, they are a reference for me, their experiences, their ways of seeing hospitality as hard work. and at the same time comforting they have been penetrating me, both personally and professionally and I hope to live up to their teachings.

I would like to highlight something that I consider very important, my university provided us students with work placements in different parts of the world, which gives you a much broader vision, unforgettable experiences, friendships different from you. In my case, I did the internships in Madrid and Amsterdam and as I said before, it has been unforgettable, it is something that I recommend to students.
